> France Congrès in Bordeaux

The business tourism association held its 17th study session in Bordeaux from 26th-28th January.

Three days of discussions with a tour of Bordeaux and the vineyards for relaxation.
France Congrès is a tourist industry and local government association.

For the association's 40th anniversary, 130 key players met to discuss "the position of France in the highly competitive business tourism sector". Round table meeting were held at the Bordeaux Conference Centre and the Mercure Cité Mondiale.

A survey on European competition provided a discussion focus. Speakers highlighted the effort required in France to make business clientele more welcome through training, attractive conference locations, and adapting to the new needs of event organisers. The Convention Plan Qualité France, signed during this meeting, is a sign of the France Congrès network's strong commitment to quality.

France Congrès also celebrated their 40th anniversary at Bordeaux City Hall.

The highlight of the meeting was a gala dinner in the Bordeaux City Hall reception rooms, attended by Hugues Martin, Mayor of Bordeaux, Stephan Delaux, Deputy Mayor in charge of tourism, and Philippe Augier, President of France Congrès.
Tours to Château d’Arsac and Château Mouton-Rothschild provided a fitting conclusion to the meeting.

> Good start to the year at Arcachon Conference Centre

with 300 conference delegates attending two major events.

In late January, Arcachon got a head start on the season: some of the town's hotels were fully booked, others reopened for the occasion. Two major events were in town at the same time:

- the 26th winter meeting of the EORTC – PAMM Group (European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer – Pharmacology and Molecular Mechanisms Group)

- and the Interjuris conference: a network of independent lawyers and solicitors.

In total, almost 300 conference delegates occupied the entire Conference Centre.
Everyone enjoyed summer activities around Arcachon Bay:
- beach-volley ball for some
- sailing on the Bay in typical local pinasses for others,
not forgetting the traditional EORTC- PAMM soccer match.

At the end of the conferences, buses shuttled to and from to the evening activities. The scientists headed for their gala dinner in the Bordeaux vineyards. The lawyers went to the new Tir au Vol function rooms in Arcachon.
