Arcachon Bay : nature and modernity

Providing a wide range of sport, nature, and cultural activities, such as visits to an oyster port, Arcachon Bay is the ideal place to enjoy a very different sort of business tourism.

Sport and nature
Arcachon Bay offers all the pleasures of the ocean within the Gironde department. Its unique geography explains why this is one of France's most unusual natural sites. The Arcachon area features sporting events for sales teams and a calm natural setting for more relaxed meetings.

The region provides event organizers with a huge choice.
> The Banc d'Arguin is the biggest sand bank in the Gironde. This vast stretch of sand bordering on a huge expanse of blue is an original, unforgettable sight.
Visitors can hang-glide over the Banc d'Arguin, learn to jet-ski, or simply enjoy a picnic there... The only limit is your imagination.

> The Dune de Pilat is the highest sand dune in Europe. Almost no one comes to the Bay without climbing it! The more athletic ones walk straight up the dune, while the less energetic use the wooden stairs.

> The Ile aux Oiseaux, in the middle of the bay, is a refuge for hundreds of bird species. Close-by, cabanes tchanquées, small houses built on stilts in the water, are a display of unique local architecture. Tours are also possible on board a pinasse, a traditional Arcachon fishing boat. For those with a competitive streak, imagine taking part in a catamaran or sea kayak regatta!

Picturesque oyster ports
Arcachon Bay offers a different, but equally natural ambiance in the area's many small oyster ports. The cabanes (oyster farmers' sheds), an important part of local heritage, are always open to visitors.
These "farmers of the sea" are glad to explain how oysters are born and grow.
Visiting this little corner of South-West France is a surprisingly exotic experience thanks to the natural beauty, oyster farms (with tasting), seafood meals, etc.

Attractive towns with quality facilities
Arcachon Bay has had a tradition of welcoming tourists since the early 20th century. The towns of Arcachon, Lège-Cap-Ferret, Andernos, and Gujan-Mestras all have a wonderful village atmosphere and high-quality facilities. Everything you need for a successful event can be found in Arcachon, including large luxury hotels, a Convention Centre, and excellent restaurants.
Convention-goers' partners are sure to enjoy the chic and sporty shops in Arcachon, and the thalassotherapy centre provides some much-appreciated relaxation and pampering.

Easy access
A place of great natural beauty, Arcachon Bay is well-served by major roads and railway lines:

- Just 3 and an half hours by train from Paris
- Bordeaux, the world wine capital, is just half an hour by train
- The motorway network to destinations north, or south towards Toulouse and Spain, is just 10 kilometers away.

There are 900 hotel rooms in the city of Arcachon. A dream seaside resort, Arcachon Bay can also cater for the needs of professionals thanks to a wide range of quality facilities: function rooms, auditoriums, seminar rooms, exposition areas, etc.

Four local organisations will be glad to help you organize events in Arcachon Bay :
