Space Propulsion 2010, organized by the Association Aéronautique et Astronautique de France in close collaboration with ESA and CNES has proven to be a great success.

The 3rd edition of the International Conference on Space Propulsion is planned from 7th to 10th May 2012 in Bordeaux (France) and the programme of the event is being organized in such a way as to highlight programmatic and technical issues, to promote exchange of views and information in the two main areas of propulsion for spacecraft and for space transportation.

La 14e édition des Journées Echo-Doppler Cardio-Vasculaire se tiendra en septembre 2012 au Palais des Congrès de Bordeaux.

Pontin (RUVBL1, TIP49…) and Reptin (RUVBL2, TIP48…) have recently attracted a lot of attention.

Since the first publications in the late 1990s, the field has been steadily expanding with many publications in high-profile journals, testifying of its good dynamics. Several general reviews also appeared recently and pointed at a number of unsolved issues or discrepancies related to the biochemistry, structural biology or functions of these pleiotropic proteins.

We thus believe that the time is right to gather the community interested in these proteins at the occasion of the first ever workshop in this field. This will be a superb opportunity to discuss informally, try to resolve controversies and establish consensus, share tools etc.

Among the many issues that could be discussed: what is the topology of the Reptin-Pontin complexes, is there a function for monomers, why are there so many different results regarding their ATPase or helicase activity, what are their functions out of the nucleus, what are their common/specific functions, how are they regulated, are they druggable ?

The meeting will take place in the Bordeaux area (France) on October 16-19, 2012, on the site of the European Institute for Chemistry and Biology.
