An evening in the footsteps of Henry IV

On Friday, 15 January, the Bordeaux Gironde Convention Bureau (BGCB) organised a gala evening for the Ambassadors Club at the Château de Cazeneuve in Préchac. This former residence of the kings of Navarre, as well as Henry IV of France and Queen Margot, was the venue for this exceptional event.

The Count and Countess de Sabran-Pontevès were pleased to reveal all the secrets of their château, its royal quarters, medieval cellars and underground passages. A hundred guests we delighted to discover this jewel of 13th century architecture and enjoy the warm, festive atmosphere.

This occasion also provided an opportunity for Hélène Fourquet, Manager of the BGCB, to take stock of the accomplishments of the Ambassadors Club. This comprises 156 representatives from the worlds of science, higher education, medicine and economics – eminent personalities recognised in France and abroad who are devoted to spreading Bordeaux's influence far and wide.

Thanks to their efforts, at least ten sizeable conventions were held in our city in 2009. In addition, bids by Bordeaux have already been accepted for fifteen conventions in the next four years. Thanks to these Ambassadors, Bordeaux is unquestionably gaining popularity as a convention venue.
