The BGCB celebrated the second anniversary of the Ambassador’s Club

The Bordeaux Gironde Convention Bureau (BGCB) has worked hand in hand with the Ambassador's Club to convince French and international congress organisers to choose Bordeaux.

The purpose of this Club, consisting of personalities from the local scientific circles as well as Bordelais belonging to French and international associations, is to put forward Bordeaux's candidacy for conferences in their field. In the past two years, the BGCB has worked on promoting nearly 20 candidacies (including 13 international ones) spread out until 2013. These conferences contribute a great deal to the reputation and impact of Bordeaux's scientific expertise. The Bordeaux Gironde Convention Bureau celebrated the second anniversary of the Ambassador's Club on the 9th of June in the drawing rooms of the Town Hall. This event featured two highlights. First of all, Dominique Ducassou, Deputy-Mayor of Bordeaux (representing Mayor Alain Juppé) awarded the Medal of the City of Bordeaux to 10 Ambassadors who organised a French or international scientific convention in 2009. Second, Christian Delpeuch, President of the BGCB, announced the results of the 2008 ICCA ranking, which designated Bordeaux in 128th position worldwide and 6th in France as a convention venue. During the course of the event, ten other personalities were also thanked for candidacies they have promoted in the past year, several of which concern conventions in the coming 2-3 years that have been already been confirmed or practically confirmed.
