The 49th SFPM scientific meeting, a major event in the cancer research field, organised by the Société Française de Physique Médicale (SFPM - French Medical Physics Society), has been held at the Bordeaux Convention Centre from 19 to 21 May 2010. Catherine Dejean and Sarah Belhomme, members of both the Ambassador's Club and the Scientific Committee for the event, worked closely with the BGCB to support Bordeaux' bid to host this conference.

Three days of lectures and workshops focused on clinical applications for Medical Physics research, particularly in medical imaging and radiotherapy.

Bordeaux is privileged venue for meetings in this field, thanks to its highly functional conference infrastructures and the cutting-edge medical facilities in the area. One example is the Institut Bergonié, one of the leading national cancer research and treatment centres, where Mrs Dejean is Coordinator of the Medical Physics unit.

This national event, last organised in Bordeaux over 15 years ago, attracted 600 participants!
